PATENTS I. What is a Patent?
A patent is a document issued to an inventor by the United States Patent Office after the inventor has the necessary application documents prepared, filed and prosecuted in the Patent Office.
The patent grant the inventor the exclusive right to make, use and sell in the United States the invention described and claimed in the patent.
The term, or life, of a patent varies, but typically is twenty (20) years from the date on which the patent application which matured into the patent was filed.
