PATENTS XIV. Patent Attorney vs. Patent Agent.
A patent attorney and a patent agent each are licensed to practice before the United States Patent Office and to prepare, file, and prosecute patent applications in the Patent Office. A patent attorney differs from a patent agent in that the patent attorney has passed the bar exam in at least one state and is licensed to practice law in that state.
